Golden Leylines is the creation of Toronto-based Irish bassist and songwriter Declan Loughlin. Although the music was created in Canada, its roots reach back to Manorhamilton, County Leitrim—a place whose landscape, history and spirit continue to shape Declan and the world of Golden Leylines. The project brings together deep groove, psychedelic rock and cinematic atmosphere in music designed to move the body and take the listener somewhere.
Golden Leylines was created in Canada, but part of its spirit reaches back to County Leitrim—the landscape, history and sense of home that continue to shape Declan and the music.

A bass-led journey through psychedelic rock, deep grooves and cinematic atmosphere. Built to move the body first—and stay with you afterwards.
Declan began playing bass at fourteen. He couldn't have explained why he chose it then, but looking back, it makes perfect sense. Bass lives between rhythm and melody—a meeting point between the drums and guitar. It is what makes people move and pulls them onto the dance floor.
Nearly every song he loved growing up had an unforgettable bass line. The sound and soul of Motown—and particularly the playing of James Jamerson—left a lasting mark. That belief in the power of the bass remains at the centre of Golden Leylines.
The project emerged after Declan burned out in a well-paid job that had slowly drained the life out of him. From the outside it looked like stability; inside, he hated every day. The experience forced him to recognize how far he had moved away from the person he really was. Golden Leylines became his way of returning—fully and without apology.
It was also created as a response to the hostility and division being amplified throughout the world. Declan wanted to move in the opposite direction: to create a warm, joyful atmosphere that anyone could enter. Music crosses countries, cultures and generations without requiring translation. A rhythm, melody or bass line can reach someone on the other side of the world and make them feel understood.
The name Golden Leylines represents those invisible connections between people everywhere: many paths, places and lives meeting through music. A listener might dance, rock out, cry or feel something sad rise to the surface. Every response is welcome. There is no correct way to experience the music. However it reaches you is real.
